Another sensational year for the Porsche Carrera Cup

08/12/2015

Now in its thirteenth year, the Carrera Cup has become more popular than ever. The 2015 championship was one of the most competitive yet with some exceptional races including a one-off visit to Spa Francorchamps as a support race to the FIA WEC series.

This year, Porsche Retail Group sponsored two of the front runners in Josh Webster and Paul Rees, but it was Dan Cammish who was victorious; taking the lead in the first round at Brands Hatch and dominating from then on. The championship has proved itself as a springboard for drivers seeking a career as a professional sports and GT racer; and our two sponsors have enormous potential. As the youngest driver in the competition, and the first Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar to win the championship in 2014, Josh Webster now has a platform to progress in a successful career in motorsport.

With our sponsorship, we recently hosted Question of Motorsport quiz nights at each of our five Centres with Josh and Paul battling it out once again as the two team captains. We also had the pleasure of welcoming fellow Carrera Cup competitor and winner of the final round at Brands Hatch, Tom Sharp, and legendary BTCC driver and former Carrera Cup Champion, Tim Harvey as our team captains.

2015 has been another sensational year for the Carrera Cup and 2016 looks to be just as hotly contested with another World Endurance Championship support slot, a boosted prize package, and a new Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar.

We have been proud to sponsor two such great drivers and wish them every bit of success in their future careers; and look forward to watching them both challenging for more championships.
