Porsche Cookie Policy

Scope

This Cookie Policy is applicable in addition to the general data protection statement for Porsche Centre Websites and describes the nature, scope, purpose and legal grounds as well as opt-out options for data processing using cookies. In addition, in terms of all additional information, the provisions in our general data protection statement for Porsche Centre Websites [A1]  are applicable. Version 23/5/18.

What are cookies?

We use so-called “cookies” to provide you with comprehensive functionality, to make your user experience more convenient and to optimise our offering. Cookies are small files which are stored on your terminal device with the help of your web browser.

Types of cookies

We use cookies for different purposes and with different functionality. In this regard we distinguish between cookies based on their necessity from a technical perspective (technical necessity), how long the cookie is stored and used (storage duration) and whether it is saved via our Porsche Centre Websites or by a third party, including which provider saves the cookie (cookie provider).

Technical necessity

Technically necessary cookies: we use certain cookies because they are absolutely necessary in order for Porsche Centre Websites and its functions to work correctly. These cookies are saved automatically when the Porsche Centre Website or a particular function is requested, unless you have disabled cookies in your browser settings.

Technically not absolutely essential cookies: by contrast, non-essential cookies are saved, for example, to improve the convenience or performance of Porsche Centre Websites  or to save particular settings configured by you. We also use non-essential technical cookies to obtain information on the frequency of use for certain areas of Porsche Centre Websites  so that we can adjust the system to meet your particular needs more closely in future. We do not store any technically non-essential cookies until you have confirmed that you have read our cookie information by clicking on the relevant field and you continue to use Porsche Centre Websites .

Storage duration

Session cookies: most cookies are only required for the duration of your current service request or for your session and they are deleted or become invalid as soon as you leave Porsche Centre Websites  or when your current session expires (so-called “session cookies”). Session cookies are used, for example, to hold certain information such as your registration for the online service or your shopping basket.

Permanent cookies: just occasionally cookies are stored for a longer period, for instance to recognise you when you re-invoke Porsche Centre Websites  at a later time and in order to be able to retrieve saved settings. This enables you to access our Porsche Centre Websites more quickly or conveniently and without having to reconfigure certain settings, such as your chosen language. Permanent cookies are automatically deleted after a predefined period of time if you visit the page or domain which issued the cookie.

Flow cookies: these cookies are used for communication between various internal Porsche servers.  They are saved at the start of a user interaction and deleted again once this has ended. During the interaction flow cookies receive a unique identification number, but this does not allow any kind of inferences regarding the actual customer or user.

Cookie provider

Third-party cookies: so-called “third-party cookies” are saved and used by other bodies or websites, for instance by the providers of web analysis tools. More detailed information on web analysis and measurement of reach can be found further on in this policy. Third-party providers can also use cookies to show advertising or to integrate content from social networks, such as social plugins.

Use of cookies for web analysis and measurement of reach

We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc.,  (“Google”). Google Analytics uses third-party cookies to determine the frequency of use for certain areas of Porsche Centre Websites  and particular preferences. The information about your use of Porsche Centre Websites  which is obtained from the cookies (including your truncated IP address) is transmitted to and then stored on a Google server in the USA. Google utilises this information on our behalf and on the basis of a contract on order processing in order to evaluate your use of Porsche Centre Websites , to compile reports for us about Porsche Centre Website activities and to carry out other services associated with service and internet usage. The legal foundation for our use of Google Analytics is Article 6 paragraph 1 (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest in this regard arises from the aforementioned purposes, especially the analysis, optimisation and commercial operation of Porsche Centre Websites .

Deletion and objection to the use of cookies

It is not obligatory to accept cookies when using our Porsche Centre Websites ; if you do not want cookies to be stored on your terminal device, you can disable this via the relevant option in the system settings for your browser. You can delete saved cookies at any time in the browser system settings if applicable, explanation for individual browsers. However, if you disable cookies, this can restrict the functionality of the services we offer.

You can also disable the use of Google Analytics cookies by means of a browser add-on in order to opt out of this website analysis. You can download this here:

.

This results in so-called “opt-out” information being saved on your terminal device which records your disabling of Google Analytics. Please note that this kind of “opt-out” information only disables Google Analytics for the terminal device and the relevant browser from which it was set. In addition, you may need to reset this option if you delete cookies from your terminal device. As an alternative to the browser add-on, certain mobile devices also allow you to disable data capture by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link programme via Java-Script code. An “opt-out cookie” will then be saved which prevents your data from being captured in future. The opt-out cookie is only applicable for the browser used to set it and only for Porsche Centre Websites and it will be stored on your terminal device. If you delete the cookies in your browser, you will need to reset the opt-out cookie .

You can also enable the “do not track function” on your terminal device. If this functionality is enabled, your terminal device will inform the relevant service that you do not want to be tracked.
