Porsche accelerates its GB sales in 2022

20/1/2023

2022 saw Porsche Cars GB and its retail partner network set an all-time sales record, delivering a total of 18,554 cars over the full year in the UK and Ireland. The broad spread of interest spanned all models, underlining the strong customer relevance of a Porsche sports car. The breadth of models has grown and offers an efficient and emotive choice of powertrains, which comprises high-performance electric motors, hybrid drive and petrol engines.

The all-electric Taycan continued its momentum in 2022, with customer choice boosted by the introduction of the Sport Turismo model, and the range accounted for over 5,000 sales. Porsche Cars GB is the manufacturer’s fourth-largest market globally and also one of the biggest for Taycan sales, reflecting the overall consumer trend towards electrification.

Taking sales of the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Panamera E-Hybrid models together with those of the Taycan, the combined proportion of Porsche sports cars sold in the UK in 2022 with an electrified drivetrain amounted to nearly 40 per cent. In 2025, more than half of all new Porsche sales worldwide are expected to come from the sale of electric vehicles.

The Macan compact SUV maintained its popularity, with sales accounting for nearly 30 per cent of overall registrations in 2022. UK sales of all derivatives of the flat-six, rear-engined 911 ranked third overall in 2022.

Porsche came top in the annual Auto Express Driver Power manufacturer brands survey in 2022 for the second year running, placing first in the annual review of UK car owners’ opinions published by Auto Express magazine.

The UK retail network currently spans 45 Porsche Centres, with future plans for growth. Further developments have expanded existing sites, with the Destination Porsche Centre in Reading opening last autumn and similar significant projects underway in Nottingham and Guildford.
